The love of the land since the origin of time

ValffAn agricultural village on the plain, the village is situated on the Tobacco Road. Valff, which the Kirneck river used to flow through, has some beautiful half-timbered houses. Today the village is developing fast.

The site was probably already occupied in protohistoric times, Gallo-Roman times. The origin of the name of the village is still not clear today; but the first known name it bore was Valva about 660. The general meaning of the term is probably " River which flows through the flat country ".

The village belonged to the Benedictine monastery of Ebersmunster in the VIIIth century. In the XIVth century, the lords of Andlau built a castle there, which after several demolitions and reconstructions, was finally demolished in 1789.
