Between tradition and innovation

The village, formed of the ancient villages of Nothalten and Zell, is dominated by the Grand Cru of the Muenchberg.

From the XIVth century onwards, the nobles of Andlau and the Bishop of Strasbourg were in possession of the village. Boehmstein Castle, in ruins since the XVth century, was probably built in the XIIIth century. Only a few vestiges remain. Two Renaissance fountains can be admired, one in Zell, the other in Nothalten.

Today, the vines cover over 220 hectares. Tourism, however, is taking on a more and more important role in the local economy. The possibilities for accommodation are numerous.

The footpaths laid out through the vines invite walkers to discover the countryside and the beauty of its vineyards.
