One of the "most beautiful villages in France"

ReichsfeldSituated on a hillside, at the foot of the Crax hill, Mittelbergheim is one of the most picturesque villages in Alsace (guided tour), with a solid gastronomic reputation.
Mittelbergheim Founded by the Franks, Mittelbergheim was at first called "Berge". At the end of the IXth century, the Emperor Charles the Fat gave it as a gift to his wife Richarde. The village later belonged to the Bishopric of Strasbourg, to the families of Andlau and Bergheim and to the City of Strasbourg.

Its remarkable location and architectural heritage have made it officially one of the " Most beautiful villages in France ".

Its narrow streets which brim with Renaissance houses, and the old press-houses give the village its particular character. It provides agreeable walks, as does its vineyard trail through the Zotzenberg.
